What is a health coach?

A health coach is a trained professional that helps people Identify health goals and become an active participant in creating life-style changes to achieve those goals.  Motivator and supporting mentor, health coaches take a holistic approach considering all areas of a person’s life including lifestyle and behavior with an emphasis on nutrition and exercise.  Health coaches can even work with health care providers for a more comprehensive support system in a person’s plan to achieve real health.

Nutrition

The primary strategy to create or maintain health is proper nutrition.  Proper nutrition can help prevent coronary heart disease, is the basis of a good immune system, and helps maintain healthy weight.

Exercise

The secondary strategy to create or maintain health is proper exercise. Proper exercise  helps prevent heart disease, improves stamina, strengths and tones, enhances flexibility, controls weight, and improves quality of life.

The Plan

Setting SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound) goals, overcoming obstacles, becoming self-reliant, and making proper nutrition and exercise a lifestyle instead of a agonizing chore.
